Dear New York Film Critic's Circle,
What the fuck? I mean come on. Are you guys going to tell me that Brad Pitt's performance in Moneyball, and The Tree of Life, combined, was better than Michael Fassbender in Shame? Also, let me remind you that he was also in Jane Eyre, X-Men, and A Dangerous Method. And in Shame, he demonstrated the heights of bravery that actors like Brad Pitt will NEVER, EVER do. Someone like him cannot consider it. His 'brand' would be affected! In fact, there is no other actor of Michael's caliber who is confident enough, mature enough, serious enough as an actor, to take on such a controversial and demanding role.
I don't mean to hate on Brad Pitt, I like him, I really like him. But Michael was simply better. Jean Dujardin was better. Ryan Gosling in Drive, WAS... Better!
Don't make Brad Pitt the boy version of Sandra Bullock this year, just because.
One down, 15 more to go... this is not the end, and there will be a smart and brave critics' group to acknowledge Michael Fassbender. That is one major downfall in scrambling in haste to be 'First'!
