The 89th Oscar nominations were announced this morning, and we are all very happy and proud of Michael Fassbender for reaching this accomplishment that so many actors aspire to - receiving an Academy Award Nomination for Best Supporting Actor in 12 Years a Slave! In Fassinating Fassbender's 1001st post, we celebrate Michael Fassbender in this achievement along with his co-stars, and director, Steve McQueen! Starting this Friday and up until the Tuesday before the Sunday broadcast, is prime ballot voting season and no nominated actor is the guaranteed winner in the tight races of Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor. Many surprises occur on Oscar night, and Michael Fassbender has won his fair share of accolades for his portrayal of Edwin Epps! It's fair game and it's on!
Michael is in a very tough category, and for him to be nominated with this bunch is a supreme honor and a grand recognition of his work in 12YAS:
Best Supporting Actor:
Barhad Abdi
Bradley Cooper
Jonah Hill
Michael Fassbender
Jared Leto
All the Oscar nominations categories will be posted shortly!
ETA: 12 Years a Slave received a total of 9 Oscar nominations, it just missed the double digits nom with a huge snub for Sean Bobbitt for Cinematography. Also, no Hans Zimmer nomination for Music!
