Michael Fassbender on the red carpet sometime in 2013.
I arrived home just before midnight last night from a fantastic time in Toronto for my 11th TIFF in a row! I ate so much food, but I burned so many more calories due to all the walking around, and rushing about. Did you know that you can burn calories by standing in line under the hot sun? Yes you can! So one minute it's very warm and sunny outside, then the next, I'm inside a theater where I have to wrap a scarf around my neck because I'm so cold. Now I have a very sore throat. TIFF will continue on through Saturday, and the People's Choice film will be announced on Sunday. I'm so lucky to be able to attend this great film festival thanks to my dearest friend Glenn.

I was so busy with watching films, eating, drinking, talking with friends, etc., that I appreciated this short down time from my Fassy duties, however, Michael wasn't entirely out of mind. Two things came out of this festival: Two-time Academy Award winner Denzel Washington, at TIFF promoting the excellent 'The Equalizer', said he would love to work with Michael Fassbender one day; and the Fassinators fanbase is sane and good.

Why would I assess that our fandom is sane and good? Well... I witnessed first hand the spine chilling craziness of Benedict Cumberbatch's fanbase. If someone asked me to describe in one word what I think of the self-proclaimed 'Cumberbitches', I would say that they are: Disturbing. I do not take that word lightly. As you all know, I have had my own troubles with our fandom, but for the most part, the annoyances are par for the course. Some fandom fart moments are more stinky than others, but in comparison to the state of the entire Cumberbatch fandom, we got our shit together. So Fassinators, pat yourselves on the back, hug a cat, donate money to a homeless charity, and get on with your sane self because we rock... in comparison to another fan base. I'm not going to take up more space here at FF to share deeper thoughts about the Cumberbitches, I'll save that for pictures and other stuff at Theatre of Zen later today (meanwhile check out the ToZ tumblr). But what I will say is that Benedict Cumberbatch is a friend of Michael Fassbender and is a great actor and a smart looking guy. I went to see 'The Imitation Game' because the plot of the film intrigued me about Alan Turing, and yes, it stars Benedict Cumberbatch. I like the man and it was brilliant to sit in the front row and just be mere feet from him and listen to him speak. He's mesmerizing in a suave way. He's so eloquent, compassionate about his work, and talented like crazy. But I'm not a Cumberbitch, just someone who respectfully appreciates his fantastic body of work and look forward to more of his work in the future.

Maybe Michael Fassbender will be at TIFF next year, but until then, I'm so happy to be part of a fanbase that does not have a questionable fandom. We as a whole have not embarrassed Michael Fassbender, and we all truly, and in our own variable ways, compassionately support him without being mental about it.
