When I set my mind to do something that I really want or need, I somehow get it one way or another. When it was announced last Friday that Michael Fassbender will be honored at the 27th Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) for the International Star Award, I wondered if it were possible if I could attend. After all, I had been thinking about visiting my friends in Palm Springs sometime in January or February for long weekend, and this PSIFF honor for Michael only accelerated my plans to visit. However, I was late to the game in buying any kind of ticket to the gala because tickets go on sale in early August, and are sold out rather quickly.
So immediately on Friday, I got in contact with my friend who is a member of PSIFF, and told him I was interested in attending, and I wondered if he could help me procure tickets. He contacted PSIFF and asked on my behalf to see if he could get another ticket. Unfortunately, the only possibility that they had available required my friend to upgrade his seat in order for me to buy a ticket, so that option was DOA. With my ability to be very limber in jumping over obstacles,
I have booked my flight and reserved a hotel. I will be in Palm Springs Jan 1-4. I am so excited about this. But, if things go to pot like if Michael doesn't attend, at least I'll get a nice quick vacation visit out of this. But I know this is going to be a great adventure and I'm so happy to be able to cover this event for Fassinating Fassbender and share with you all! Now, I have to buy a fancy dress for the gala.
