It was announced yesterday that the film project to be directed by Jim Jarmusch, featuring Michael, Tilda and Mia has had a change in the line-up. After not hearing anything new about the film, on Sunday, I removed it from the 'What's up Next' feature on the side-bar. Only to learn just the following day, that Tom Hiddleston has replaced Michael in the vampire film, now titled, 'Only Lovers Left Alive'. See, this is what I hate about these projects that are announced which state that Michael is apparently in talks with. It was mentioned way back last summer about this vampire film, and that Michael was going to star in it. And finally in late frigging January, we now learn he's not a part of it?
I know the big tip off was when Michael mentioned that he is taking time off for his personal production projects and to prepare for '12 Years a Slave'. And with no mention of Jim's film, nor no more comment about Brendan Gleeson's project, it's all hopeful hype and then nothing! I'm not blaming Michael at all... I just wish the the damn gossip media and studios stop using Michael's name to promote stuff that he really is not going to be a part of. Stop USING his name to get shit green lit, that's not cool!
Anyway, I think Tom is a worthy replacement... he has 'Fassbender vibes' about him. Coincidentally, I watched Thor over the weekend... I did not like the film, too silly and cartoonish, and the acting was horrible. But Tom as Loki was pretty good. It's obvious that he's a fine young actor who was doing his job amidst a sucky script and film, and very bad actors. Even Natalie Portman sucked in her role, and don't get me started on Chris Hemsworth... yuck!
Yesterday, someone posted at tumblr a picture of an Atlanta, Georgia restaurant receipt, with Michael's name and the last four digits of his Mastercard. I thought I read quickly on tumblr that Michael was spotted in Atlanta late last week, and this new development proves it. I think it's tacky and an invasion of his privacy to post a picture of the obscure receipt, but, welcome to the world of waiters with iPhones. What's he doing in Atlanta of all places? Maybe he's doing research for '12 Years a Slave'. Being anywhere in the South would be great research territory for a film of this historical nature. I spent two weeks in Atlanta last January, it's a nice city, but, not somewhere I would want to live. Surely sometime soon, Michael will be heading back to the UK for his final awards event weekend, Feb 11-12th.
Thank you to Maria, Emmy, Harry, Joane, Navin and Liv for signing the Guestbook with your nice comments!
