This is a very cute image found on tumblr yesterday that I have not seen before. It's so much fun discovering these new old pictures! This is the end of a rather busy week for me and I cannot wait for the weekend so I can catch up on much needed sleep from jet lag and stress.

In preparation for the Toronto Film Festival, I have an Keep Calm text idea: Keep Calm and watch a Fassbender Film. And above that could would be a film reel. I like that and I'm going to ask Kelly if he could add that. I'm also going to get 'KC and get your Fassbender On' in German, Gaelic, French and Spanish. I'll let you know when those are up if you're interested in ordering a shirt with these new designs.

Happy TGiFassy!

First Look at Twelve Years a Slave (updated)

Here are the first images from Steve McQueen's 'Twelve Years a Slave' starring Michael Fassbender and Chiwetel Ejiofor. I am certain that TYAS will screen at TIFF in September and I plan on being there. In fact, I'm going to try to get media accreditation... key word, try. We'll see. And as excited as I am to watch TYAS, it's going to be a hard film to watch. There are more pictures posted at USA Today, the original source of these images.

Update: Indiewire has a great write up on it, and some interesting comments posted by readers. However, this bit from Steve McQueen is intriguing:

"He goes through an extraordinary ordeal, a very painful, brutal experience, and found a kind of redemption on the other side of it," McQueen told USA Today about Ejiofor's character, and apparently Fassbender's performance is fierce. "[It's one] that no one's ever seen before, and that's saying something."

There have been many films made on the subject of slavery in the United States' past, and most evil slave owners have been presented as such, but for Steve to say that Michael's performance in particular is one that no one has seen before, is exciting and scary at the same time. I'm behind our boy 110% for everything he does and I anxiously await watching TYAS! It will be released by Fox Searchlight on December 27th.

Michael's acting in this particular role will be unlike anything, anyone has seen before. According to McQueen.

Don't mess this one up Fox Searchlight!

BTW, I have been, very, very busy at work and hitting a new high in feeling low about where I work. I'm positive things will change by the end of this week, if not sooner, and I will be rid of this horrible place. It sucks so bad that it ruined my post-vacation high, totally fucking ruined it and that's why I haven't been around much. Other than treating myself to seeing 'Man of Steel' on Saturday, I've been wrestling with the idea of what the hell I'm going to do about work. Up and quit that bitch, go postal, or continue to linger there up until I find something else. Well, something else has popped up and I hope I can seal the deal very soon.

Keeping Up with Keep Calm products

I sent an email to Kelly of Limelight Impressions to inquire about getting a specially made t-shirt for me to wear at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. As I mentioned last week, I want to get the 'Keep Calm and watch a Fassbender Film' with a movie reel as the image. Kelly is on it and will send me a draft sometime this week. Also, he is happy to create the 'KC and get your Fassbender On' text in the four languages I mentioned: Gaelic, German, French, and Spanish.

He had two questions to ask of me. Based on how well the tank tops are selling for his Pearl Jam themed line, he wanted to know if Fassinators would buy a tank top? Secondly, he said that a lot of his customers are asking for 'window clings' to use instead of the paint destroying adhesive that are used in stickers. Especially for Pearl Jam fans, we like to show our support for the band by having stickers on the bumper of our car and other items. However, some would prefer to use a window cling (a clear plastic that you just easily attach to your window and it's easy to remove). Would you be interested in buying a window cling? You can attach it to your laptop, any window, mirror, etc. Please let me know and I'll let him know.

A rather calm Fassbender week comes to a close. And guess what, I got a new job offer! :-) It is definitely TGiFassy for sure!

For those of you who check out my tumblr, I know I have been re-blogging tons of images of beautiful Henry Cavill, but don't fret, Michael is still my main dude. The Theatre of Zen tumblr features all of what I like, and although I have known of Henry for many years (he and Michael were in Blood Creek), his turn in the awesome 'Man of Steel' forced me to pay my respects to him. He ain't no Fassy, but then again, no one can be Fassy as Fassy. :)

Montreal Michael & It's TIFF Time!

I was almost at the edge of just making something up just to be able to write a post about Michael. As you all know, he's still in Montreal, working hard on the X-Men movie. But still that's no excuse for being MIA for a week danggit! I have a blog to update for cripe's sake! When there's no Michael, I've had Henry Cavill to fall back on. LOL! Anyhoo, Michael has been spotted by fans and he has taken these two pics with fans (whom I removed - full pics at Pinterest). From this point on, if there are pictures of Michael and fans, I'll edit them out just for privacy reasons. Last year, a fan contacted me to edit her out of a picture I posted up here, and I quickly did as she requested. So I will be more conscious of that in the future. And when the Fassy well is dry, all we really want to see is Michael, right? Uh-huh!

It is TIFF time again and I have received a few emails from people who are asking me about TIFF and how to prepare for it. I strongly suggest you to visit www.tiff.net/thefestival so that you can learn about the TIFF process and experience. In my 10th year of going, in all honesty, I'm at a level of experience where I'm all over the place and this year I'm trying to get media accreditation (read about it at ToZ). I watch a lot of movies, and I'm "working" also in updating Theatre of Zen (which I strongly recommend you keep an eye on because I'll be more active on it this time of year). Chances are slim that I'll be as available to meet up with anyone as I previously have been. I have a friend I stay with and we have a TIFF business arrangement that is a blessing and I'm 100% committed to coordinating my schedule with his since we see so many films together. Also, I am making time available to meet up with blogger peers to network and build ToZ for future  TIFF adventures. I have been going to TIFF four years before becoming a Fassinator, so TIFF is not about being a Fassinator, I'm totally in my cinephile mode big time. However, and especially, if there is a TIFF year that there is a Fassbender film screening and there's a possibility he'll be there, I take that seriously and along with my cinephile hat on, and my writer/blogger hat, I put the Fassinator hat on top of both of those, so it's triple duty, stressful, and crazy for me.

I anticipate TIFF 2013 to be a triple duty as I try to plan it and navigate it a bit differently than years past (also TIFF organizers change stuff every year). So if you're planning on going, feel free to let me know. If there's a chance we can meet for lunch or dinner, we'll have to plan it by ear. It's always fun to meet Fassinators, but TIFF is a terribly crazy time to do so because I'm not just there for him, I'm there for the entire experience of TIFF, and that's a big difference. I remember back in 2011 (which was my favorite year because of the Fassbender and Pearl Jam adventures), a Pearl Jam friend was at TIFF ONLY to see the Pearl Jam rockumentary by Cameron Crowe. I asked him how many other films was he there to see, and he said none, he's not interested, he wants to see Pearl Jam only. He then asked me if I was there to see other films, and I told him of course, film and celebrity is in my blood. That year, I saw 18 films, and he looked at me like I was crazy. Dude, it's a fuckin' film festival. But it was cool. To each their own. He had fun, I had fun.

If you're thinking about going to TIFF because of the possibility that Michael will be there, that's nice and all, but I urge you to also buy tickets to other films so that you can get a better idea of what TIFF is about and why it's so awesome! I love Toronto very much, my sister Buddhist Temple is located there, my best Canadian friend lives there, I've been visiting it since 1991, and for me, it is the host to the world's most fan friendly film festival. A lot of fantastic celebrities can be spotted around town, so don't go there just for one celebrity, go there to enjoy all of what TIFF offers. :-)

Lastly, there is a new publisher's website promoting Twelve Years a Slave, please go check it out here.

Trailer for The Counselor! (updated x3)

TYAS Moves up to October 18th Release Date!

As reported by Deadline.com, Steve McQueen's 'Twelve Years a Slave' will move up two whole months from the previously reported release date of Dec 27th to October 18th, albeit in limited release! I believe that this move is to take advantage of the festival platforms of Venice, Toronto, and New York, all happening within weeks of each other.

Here is the article from Deadline.com:

EXCLUSIVE: The release date chess game of the Oscar-bait autumn films continues. After some exuberant test screenings, Fox Searchlight is moving the Steve McQueen-directed Twelve Years A Slave to a limited platform release that will begin October 18. The original plan for the film backed by New Regency and River Road was to start the limited platform release in late December. They felt it could thrive in the fall, instead of waiting for winter. With a cast that includes Michael Fassbender, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Brad Pitt, the film is based on the true story of one man’s fight for survival and freedom in the pre-Civil War America. Ejoifor plays Solomon Northup, a free black man from upstate New York who is abducted and sold into slavery. He faces cruelty (personified by a malevolent slave owner played by Fassbender) as well as unexpected kindness. In the 12th year of his unforgettable odyssey, Solomon’s chance meeting with a Canadian abolitionist (Pitt) forever alters his life. The film also stars Beast Of The Southern Wild‘s Quvenzhané Wallis, Paul Dano, Sarah Paulson, Alfre Woodard, Paul Giamatti, and Lupita Nyong’o. John Ridley adapted Northrup’s memoir. Pitt and his Plan B World War Z cohorts DeDe Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner produced with McQueen, Bill Pohlad, Arnon Milchan, and Anthony Katagas.

I'm in a much better head place than I was at this time a week ago. The wonders of what a staycation and getting new updates about Michael's two movies both coming out in October can do for you. And we still have yet to learn of the release date of Frank. This week's image of Michael has him looking very fresh, alert, and oh so handsome! And I'm reminded yet again the reasons why I do what I do in support of him in this community.

Last night at the Awards Watch forums, some idiot who wants me to acknowledge their existence, made a snide comment to me, out of the blue, just to provoke me. He called me a stan, and I don't like that. If you have never heard of that word and don't know what it means, refer to urban dictionary. Calling someone a stan is pretty much the short version of calling them a stalker. And you only call someone a stalker if they, a) really do stalk someone, or b) if they're not a stalker, but you call them that just to piss them off. Well, that person pissed me off and I gave told her two choice words.

I'll have to develop tougher skin over the next eight months because people are going to call me that to upset me because they don't like that I support Michael Fassbender on a general forum that is all about films and various actors and actresses.  Tons of other forum members regularly comment about their favorites, so it's the norm. At Awards Watch, there are a lot of people who like Michael, but I do stand out in my support of him. Of course I start threads on other topics, namely TIFF, and post in a lot of topics in the Film section. Most often, it is other people who are so quick to create a new thread about Michael so they can be the creator of a popular thread. So I'm not alone there in my being a fan of his. But there is a stark difference between a fan, even an enthusiastic one such as myself, and a stalker fan. The latter is mentally unstable and knows no boundaries of yearning to be in constant close proximity to a celebrity. I find it offensive to be referred to as a stan... I would rather just be called a bitch, you know? But carefully selected verbs and adjectives used to cut me down and insult my intelligence is rude and says more about the person who is attacking me than my own fan behavior.

Well, I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing and know that my personal and professional life has been given a new lease on life. I'm a happier and emotionally healthier person now, and I can deal with the petty rudeness that is part and parcel of the internet.

Michael has been criticized for his fashion, but I love it. He wears the hell out of those camouflage board shorts, and I'm not complaining. Looks like he went grocery shopping with a friend.

More pics later when they become available. You can view watermarked pics at my tumblr. And according to this article, the theatrical trailer for '12 Years a Slave' will debut on screens July 5th before the film, 'The Way, Way Back'.

Way back in 2007, as I was discovering Michael Fassbender, I saw a cute little movie called, 'A Bear Named Winnie' (2004). This still is from that movie and I guess I'm in a vintage Fassy mood because the 5th anniversary of Fassinating Fassbender is approaching, and I'm just feeling nostalgic in wanting to honor that on this TGIFassy day. The crazy meltdown that is occurring in another fandom has made me appreciate Michael Fassbender and all his awesomeness because he does things in his own way, and when he wants to. As beautiful as Michael is, he's not perfect and that makes him more human, more real, and more appealing. I will never have the focus, the energy, or the interest to support an actor like Michael at the level of commitment that I have demonstrated thus far for him.

Michael Fassbender may not be the most popular or well known actor, but he is well known enough to be in high demand and to still live a normal life. TGiFassy everyone!

Vote for Michael as the Sexiest Movie Star at Empire.com!

Vote for Michael as Sexiest Movie Star Man!
Empire Magazine has a new voting contest going on where they ask you to vote for your favorite Sexiest movie star. They don't give you names to vote for, you are in complete control to vote for Michael Fassbender as the #1 Sexiest Movie Star. In our world, Michael is all that and a Bounty bar (my favorite candy), but sometimes, the 'regular people' of the world, forget him because their attention is focused on the new flavor of the month or some other bland celebrity. So Michael needs our help! Go to Empire and select him as your Number One Sexiest Movie Star, and then you can list your other favorite celebrities.

Here is my vote:

1. Michael Fassbender - I don't need to explain myself here, do I?
2. Henry Cavill - Look, I've always known about the man and always thought he was gorgeous, but Man of Steel FORCED me to really recognize him.
3. Angelina Jolie - she is my pretend girlfriend, or, girl-crush.
4. Daniel Craig - He's not pretty, just ruggedly handsome and the best James Bond evah!
5. Chiwetel Ejiofor - Have you seen him in Kinky Boots? Any man who can be in that movie, is naturally sexy.

Don't you get the feelin' he's looking right at YOU?
Another week has passed during this quiet summer in Fassyland! However, I did learn from Cinemablend yesterday, that X-Men: Days Future Past has two more months of filming in Canada. So that keeps Michael in Canada through at least early September. And you know what, that is very convenient because the Toronto Film Festival takes place starting September 5th! He'll have no problem at all traveling to Ontario to promote '12 Years a Slave', if it screens at TIFF.

It was brought to my attention by Dionne that things are so quiet in Fassbender related news, that the kids at Michael's IMDB message boards have created a Henry Cavill thread on Michael's board! That's not only disrespectful, LOL, but it's seriously fucked up. I like Henry too, but keep Henry shit on Henry's board. And speaking of messageboards, for variety and to engage with people who may not necessarily visit FF, I have created a profile at The Purse Forum. Now I have been visiting that community for several years, but I have never posted there. But since I am borderline obsessed with purses/handbags, nail polish, makeup, and girly stuff like that, it just seemed natural for me to finally create a profile there. I post as 'Fassfas', only later did I realize I made a typo and skipped the second 's', but, it is what it is and I have a nice 'Counselor' avatar of Michael. I have posted at the Michael thread, the Cavill thread, and in the cosmetics section.

In a way, I'm glad things are quiet at the present because it's good to relax a bit. But come late August and six months beyond, it's going to get a little crazy in Fassyland. I'm going to follow up with Limelight Impressions about the status of the shirts so that some of you can enjoy tank tops while it's still summer.

I'm reading an interesting book about Fandoms and it gave me the latest idea for a poll based on activities in two other fandoms that I have witnessed within the past month. If you're interested, check out this book: Fandom: Identities and communities in a mediated world / edited by Jonathan Gray, Cornel Sandvoss, and C. Lee Harrington.

TGiFassy!, and enjoy the weekend!

It looks great doesn't it? The movie is still going to be difficult to watch at some parts, especially with Michael's evil slave owner Epps, and the emotional heart tugging turmoil of Solomon played by Chiwetel. Here are some images from tumblr!

Things picked up a little bit this week with the long awaited release of the TYAS trailer, and yesterday, we saw another trailer for The Counselor? Ya'll better start making plans to have someone watch over you in October because you're going to lose your damn minds with all the Fassyiness going on that month. Some of you are old enough, like me, to remember when theaters (at least here in the States) showed a Double-Feature. Basically, they showed two full-featured films back to back, but with a half-hour intermission. What I would give to see a double-feature of TYAS (Oct 18) and The Counselor (Oct 25) in one sitting.

And you know what, if you time it right, you could wait a week or two when both films are playing simultaneously in your town, and watch them both on the same day, at different theaters. But that would be dangerous the more I think about it because you won't be able to go to sleep at the end of the day. Too much Fassy stimulation. Or, like how those medicine packages warn your ass about driving a vehicle after taking it because you'll be woozy and stuff... you could suffer from the same shit if you watch two new Fassy movies in one day. Driving Under the Influence of Fassy may pose a danger to you and strangers. So, keep that in mind!

Here is the latest clip from The Counselor courtesy of EW.com:

http://insidemovies.ew.com/2013/07/18/the-counselor-trailer-michael-fassbender/

If you would like to read some spoilerish commentary about the TYAS script and the deets about a particularly brutal scene, go here. The writer does bring up a good point about Michael's, appearance.

There were some concerns regarding the casting of Brad Pitt and Michael Fassbender, given the physical appearance of the despicable characters they may portray, who are hardly described as handsome in the narratives. One of those characters - a major one in the film - is that of Edwin Epps, the evil plantation owner who enslaves Northup for the latter part of his captivity.  As Tambay plainly put it, “Epps is your garden variety uneducated, ignorant, alcoholic, redneck asshole;” his character certainly fits that description in the script. Fassbender plays the ruthless Edwin Epps, a plantation owner; and although there are several of them in the script, Epps is the most prominent; it only makes sense that Fassbender’s rising star will be showcased here. And, to say the least, it will be extremely challenging for him, especially psychologically. The last thing you will think about when watching the film when it's released in a few months, is how charming or handsome Fassbender is.  <>... [It’s] described as horrifically as you can possibly imagine.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I don't know about you all, but it's hot as hell here in Michigan. I'm suffering from so many mosquito bites on my legs, that it looks like my legs have measles. I don't even want to go to yoga Friday night because my legs are pretty fair (think café au lait with extra soy milk) and these blatantly red ass dots look like I need to be quarantined. It's been hovering around 101 degrees (heat index), and it's going to be hotter on Friday. On Thursday morning, my air conditioning unit literally exploded when I turned it on. I'm glad it happened while I was at home because if it happened while I was at work, I don't know if it could have caught fire and burned down my apartment and killed my cat. BUT, that didn't happen. Maintenance has ordered me a brand spankin' new AC, but it'll take a few days and like I said, this weekend is going to be brutal. Guess I'll be walking about the apartment ala Michael as Brandon in Shame.
His exact quote: "It's great to be in California, especially now you've repealed Proposition 8," says McKellen. "Now I'm looking for a husband... It's nice to meet you Michael [Fassbender]."
No offense to Prof X/McAvoy lovers, but THE X-Man is Magneto! If this is going to be a cover story for an upcoming Entertainment Weekly, they better send me the Magneto cover. That's all I'm going to say!
I've been reading some nerdy informative X-Men fanboy pages to determine what is the consensus of which X-Men is the most powerful and feared. Although there is no unanimous decision, frequently Magneto was in the top five. As was demonstrated in that Comic Con interview with the Professor X and Magneto actors, Michael and Ian immediately and in unison, came to the defense of their character:
Interviewer:    And then there is the villain...
McKellen and Fassbender:   No.
Interviewer:    Misunderstood freedom fighter?
McKellen and Fassbender:   Yes.
TYAS @ TIFF
Just a quick update to inform you all that The Toronto Int'l Film Festival has announced the first 70 of an expected 250+ films today, and yes, Steve McQueen's '12 Years a Slave' will have its World Premiere at Toronto! Michael Fassbender will be there too! TYAS will NOT play at Venice this year, and that leaves the gate open for it to be show at the New York Film Festival and or the London Film Festival, in late September and mid- October respectively!
I knew in my gut that a film like TYAS was saving itself for Toronto, and I'm glad it's not a Gala because that would mean it would screen at the Roy Thomson Hall and that place is a nightmare. I think this is Princess of Wales fare.
If you're going to TIFF, make sure you order your 'Keep Calm and Watch a Fassbender Film' t-shirt in Toronto! After all the luck the fans at Comic Con had with meeting Michael... you never know, and with that shirt, you'll definitely stick out!
