Michael Fassbender was the most popular man in Dublin yesterday at his premiere for Frank. He looked fantastic (I LOVE this photo!), and everyone who got to meet him said he was a nice and lovely man. But of course, when is he not nice and lovely? While the reviews have been excellent for Frank, there have been mumblings from folks griping (almost borderline anti-Yankee smack talk) about the Frank character having an American accent. I understand how they feel, and I think it's odd having Michael use an American accent for this role, but because this character is apparently very loosely based off of the real Frank Sidebottom, I think they didn't want a British/Irish accent used to draw even closer parallels of Frank in the film to Chris Sievey's Frank Sidebottom. But alas, I reckon all of us are anxious to see this film in any event.

On a side note, Me and Snootiegirl are going to meet up at the casting call for the Superman/Batman film this coming Sunday here in Michigan. It's always so much fun meeting Fassinators, and local ones at that. I'll have a report about our adventures later this weekend at my Zen blog. I've only done one other casting call for a commercial half a billion years ago, and only 10 people were needed. Well, roughly 1,000 people are needed for this casting call for a major motion picture being filmed in Detroit by Warner Brothers, shhhhh we can't tell you which film though (the announcement said exactly that) Duh... let's just say, I think I'll need to wear comfortable shoes, it's going to be a long day. Snootie, we may have to have a cocktail afterwards.

Blue jacket to match his blue eyes!
Continuing his mini-premieres for Frank, Michael now has moved on to London for the Sundance Film Festival premiere of Frank. In Dublin, Michael wore his favorite black leather jacket, and in London, he wore the blue version. I love his practical fashion sense!

Also on Friday, Michael and the director and co-star of Frank appeared on the Late, Late Show. Watch the episode here at the 43:23 minute mark! (OMG! Watching that Priceless: Ireland, Master Card commercials is indeed Priceless, I've never seen it before until now) :D Daddy Fassbender was in the audience, and I think Michael's blonde manager was sitting next to him, and then there as Michael's secondary school teacher. She had glowing things to say about Michael as a student, she said he was "charming, beautiful, and popular". Sounds like the teach is crushing big time on  grown up Michael. Can you blame her? Very sweet, and very, very cool interview with Michael, Lenny, and Domhnall.

This has been the longest shortest week of my life. Maybe it's because I had such a busy weekend and was busy at work. But thankfully, I have today off from work, so I'm enjoying a much needed staycation. It has been announced this week that Michael's 'Frank' film will premiere in the states on August 22 - months after it's premiere this week in the UK. If you are following the @FrankTheFilm twitter on Thursday, you would have seen massive tweets of people donning the Frank mask while doing all sorts of daily activities about London. It was cute, but then it got a little claustrophobic seeing tweets after tweets of numerous heads covered with the same Frank mask. But it's all in good fun to promote a funny film I can't wait to see.

Meanwhile, listen to Michael Fassbender sing 'I love you all' at Soundcloud. It's really a decent song and Michael sounds fantastic. The music is a cool blend of The Beatles and Arcade Fire. He has a deep singing voice and his Irish accent is prominent. I don't know if he can help that while he's singing, especially since the Frank character is American.

And lastly, Michael made an appearance on the Graham Norton Show with James McAvoy and Hugh Jackman in support of X-Men: Days of Future Past. It will air today in the UK, 2 May, so just as soon as the video is available, it will be posted here and at FF@FB.

Thanks to Guia for bringing the full video of Friday's show to my attention! I'll have to watch it later this weekend as I'm off to the Zen Buddhist Temple for a full-day retreat. Namaste and enjoy my friends!

ps. does anyone else think that if Three Men and a Baby were remade, that Michael, James, and Hugh should star in it? What a brilliant idea! I should be a Hollywood producer! ;-)

Frank Mask Freebies from Printster.co.uk!

Remember seeing all those tweets last week from the UK of people wearing those Frank masks in support of the promotion of Frank, starring Michael Fassbender? Well after reading FF, Ben, the Managing Director of Printster.co.uk emailed me this weekend stating that they have a few masks left over and wondered if I wanted them. Hell yeah!

I gave him my mailing address and they are in route. So, since there are a "few", I'm keeping one and I would like to give others on a first come first serve basis the opportunity to nab a genuine Frank mask for themselves. Ben's company made all those masks that fans have been wearing, and now it's your turn to earn one of the most unique film memorabilia items from a Fassbender film. The only condition upon you getting this mask is that you pay the shipping and handling - I'll ship it anywhere!

So, just post a comment here in this thread to claim one of the 'few', and when I get them, I'll know the true count, and be in contact with the people who want one of these cool masks.

Meanwhile, check out www.printster.co.uk and www.personalisedfacemasks.co.uk !

Top Five Fassy Roles and a new Interview

TimeOut London posted a new interview with Michael Fassbender today and it's quite good. I really like this question and answer:

You have a reputation for being a Hollywood wild man. How did that start?‘I don’t know. I suppose it makes for a more interesting read than Michael Fassbender, normal guy.’

And it's true. Exaggerated and made-up silly articles and headlines about Michael Fassbender are much more interesting to the masses instead of normal headlines about a normal guy. Michael is not a wild guy in the public eye, and I've been following his career for 7 years. While he's not a choir boy, (what 37 year old actor is?), he's certainly not as wild as people want him to be, or are gullible to believe him to be. I've always like reading interviews like this because Michael is straightforward, honest, and is precise in how he responds.

Another article I found this morning is from DigitalSpy where as they are anticipating the release of X-Men: Days of Future Past, they list their top five roles that Michael starred in. Here is what they list:

Hunger
Fish Tank
X-Men: First Class
Shame
Prometheus

Here are what I think are Michael's greatest roles:

Prometheus - His David was smooth, menacing, calculating and the most interesting Earthling of all the characters in Prometheus.

Centurion - As Quintas Dias, Michael's performance in this little seen historical drama of a Roman soldier in ancient Great Britain is brutal, bloody, and depicting bravery in a manner that really makes you empathize with Dias and root for him in the very beginning.

Inglorious Basterds - As Archie Hicox, Michael as the faux German soldier stole the show in the tavern scene. He was out of his league but they almost made it until he used the wrong three fingers. Doh! The change in his mood, his demeanor, and switching from German to British was smooth as his final taste of scotch.

Shame - Michael should have received his first Oscar nomination and won! That's all I'm going to say dammit (yes, I'm still mad about his snub).

12 Years a Slave - No other actor could have done for Epps what Fassbender did for Epps. Bringing to life a very, very pathetic, vile, and angry man who enjoyed torturing his slaves. The character was so bad, but Michael's performance so extraordinary, that his "prize" was just to be nominated for an Oscar as politics could not actually allow him to win it.

What do you think are Michael's five greatest roles?

This post will be updated with additional information as it becomes available!

Michael Fassbender will kick off his US promotion of X-Men: Days of Future Past, with an appearance on tonight's Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon at 11:35pm EST.

Then on May 10, it will be the GLOBAL and only American red carpet premiere of X-Men: DOFP in New York City. Michael will be there.

May 12 is the London premiere of DOFP. Michael will be there.

However, the following world premiere dates have not confirmed if Michael will be in attendance. What happens with these around the world premieres is that not everyone can attend them due to logistics and scheduling conflicts. So keep an eye out if you're in one of these cities:

May 13 - Moscow

May 14 - Singapore

May 15 - Sao Paulo

May 16 - Melbourne and Beijing

Fassinating Fassbender will be on top of posting images of Michael on the red carpet and posting video links to TV show appearances.

Michael Fassbender will be in New York on Saturday, and London on Monday, and then on to Moscow where I wish Vera the best of luck in trying to see him to provide the Russian coverage for FF! Twentieth Century Fox are pulling out all the ropes to have Michael promote X-Men: Days of Future Past and it couldn't come at a better time when we want to see Michael back on the red carpet with friends who bring out the best in him.

Keep coming back to the blog for updates on the red carpet premieres!

The Frank Masks Have Arrived!

$

Thanks again to Printster.co.uk for sending us their last remaining Frank masks that became a Twitter phenomenon last week from the UK premieres of Frank. This was the only company making these masks and thereby making them instant collectibles for serious Fassinators!

As per this post last week, I announced that first come first served would receive a mask. However, in order to receive the mask, you agree to pay for the shipping and handling (two people are locals). I received ten (10) masks and after keeping one for myself, the nine lucky people who will get a mask are:

1. Martha
2. Elizabeth
3. JenLet
4. Myriam
5. Stephanie
6. Andrea
7. Guia
8. Marjan
9. Vera

You have until next Monday, 19 May to send me the shipping and handling funds via my Paypal email address (simonecromer@att.net). For those who do not respond, you will have forfeited the right to claim the mask which will allow the next persons who have expressed interest in receiving this mask to claim it. From first glance at the list, most people are from overseas, so please take into consideration that although these masks are FREE, the shipping and handling is a cost you'll have to review.

For US people, please send me $5, for overseas, send $10 US. PLEASE NOTE that when you send me the money via paypal that you as the sender pay the transaction fee. Those familiar with how Paypal works understand this. I hope the S/H fee isn't cost prohibitive for anyone, I'm trying to be fair as I have mailed many large letters/packages overseas and the post office always rip me off with higher than expected fees.

Thank you very much for your enthusiasm in this exclusive offer to the Fassinating Fassbender community, and in being prompt with processing your claim for your mask. And yes, I will send the mask in a sturdy large envelope so that it doesn't bend.

We're just one week away from the US theatrical release of X-Men: Days of Future Past, and Michael Fassbender has earned 25K frequent flyer miles in the past week by having premieres in NYC, London, and Moscow. This week's image is from Wednesday in Moscow! It has been a fun week with information about a new movie Michael is reportedly interested in, 'The Light Between the Oceans', the release of MacBeth full frontal face one sheet posters, and us receiving those cool Frank masks direct from Bristol, England.

I'm Seeing Frank in LA!!!

I am so lucky! Through this fandom, I have met some of the most fassinating fans. I cannot express enough gratitude in what I have experienced through these people. I have Fassinator friends here in Michigan, I met one in Paris, hooked up with one in London and then hung out with her again in Amsterdam. But the first real Fassinator friend I met lives in Los Angeles and we met up during my June 2011 trip. As I'm planning my Venice Beach/LA visit for June 12-15, I am meeting up with Miapatagonia again, and she was able to nab us two tickets to see Frank on June 14th! I noticed a tweet by the LA Film Festival about a special premiere of Frank in Los Angeles on June 14th and June 17th only. I immediately realized that 'Shit! That's when I'll be in LA!' So I emailed Miapatagonia and she was game in going to see Frank with me. We have pretty much set up our itinerary for that Saturday, but a 7pm Michael Fassbender movie to close out an excellent day couldn't be better! She has just confirmed that she got our tickets, Woo hoo! See, this is what I mean about me being lucky! What are the chances of a surprise LA Frank screening during the very short few days that I will be in Los Angeles... a long planned trip? It's the miraculous work of the Fassy Gods ya'll!

LA Film Fest@LAFilmFestMay 17

California has been on my mind lately, and not just as a vacation destination. After this past horrible record breaking winter (Polar Vortex bullshit, highest snowfall, and sub-Sub zero temperatures), I'm wondering why in the hell do I still live in the Mid-West? Why endure another horrifying winter? Well, we'll see what fate has in store for me, but the reliable weather of California is very appealing, and, you never know. But in the meanwhile, I'm so looking forward to my vacation and seeing Frank in the US before the rest of the country sees it on August 22.

Hi Simone, welcome to Los Angeles!

Today is the day that we all finally get to see the next installment in the X-Men franchise, Days of Future Past. Some of you will go see it today, others, like me, will wait until sometime this weekend to go see it. But I think it's important that we all get to the theater to see it at some point from Thursday midnight screenings all the way through Monday, which is the Memorial Day holiday here in the States. So I hope you enjoy the movie and please come back here to post your brief review or opinion of the film.

Coming up next week, I will be offline from late Tuesday evening until next Saturday. Why? Well, I've been hired as an extra for a major film being made here in Michigan, and my brain is still trying to grasp the gravity of the role assignment I have. I cannot say anymore due to confidentiality and stuff, but when the time comes for me to write about my filming adventures, you'll be in awe! So while FF is quiet, please focus on Fassinating Fassbender Facebook, which Vera and Stephanie are doing a phenomenal job on, and of course the FF Pinterest board is your playground if you have pinning rights.

Thanks and TGiFassy!

FF Film Review | X-Men: Days of Future Past (5/5)

Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender, and James McAvoy
I proudly boast that I have seen every single X-Men film and I thoroughly enjoyed them all, especially the much aligned X-Men: Last Stand. But with Days of Future Past, I think this may just have become my favorite. You see, when it comes to science fiction, one of my most favorite movie plots deal with time travel. So when I first heard that DOFP would merge the future XMen with XMen of the past, my interest was immediately piqued. The time travel theme was developed in a very creative way, a believable way, and if I didn't know that the franchise was dependent on the survival of key X-Men, I would have been very sad it all didn't pan out right.

Without giving away too much of the plot, DOFP involved having Wolverine go back in time to prevent a very pissed off and determined Mystique from assassinating the scientist who would go on to create the Sentinel machines which were designed to destroy all mutants. But what she could not possibly know is that through her actions, her DNA, her very existence would be used to improve and further develop the Sentinel program which would ensure that program's success in destroying her kind. Prof X and Magneto in the future realize the role they both played in having all mutants be on the rapidly developing and devastating path towards complete extinction.

Because young Charles was an emotional wreck in 1973, and with Magneto incarcerated a hundred floors beneath the Pentagon, only Wolverine could go back and recruit their help to stop Mystique. The special effects, and the sometimes crowded but effective action packed scenes with multiple mutants and their special powers were amazing. The Sentinels were so powerful, you wondered just how could the mutants change their future. The introduction of Quick Silver (Magneto's son that he didn't know existed) was short and brilliant and provided just the right amount of laughs in an otherwise very dark and pessimistic story.

I think that the primary reason why so many people like the X-Men is because there are times when we all feel like an outsider or different from the others. The X-Men magnifies this feeling by ten because we see laid out right in front of our eyes, the outcome of systematic mistrust and mistreatment of other people and other species, simply because they are different than us. And what is different than the majority tends to cause fear, judgments, anxieties, and persecution in the minds of the weaker people. Just when you thought Magneto was being a selfish ass, even through his dramatic actions and regardless of who gets hurt, he has a point. If only the reality in X-Men could become the reality in our reality, which is, don't judge a person by their appearance and their abilities - the world would be a much happier place.

Considering how crowded the film was of X-Men, I felt that the usage of Michael Fassbender was fair, and he got third billing behind Hugh and James, with Jennifer coming in fourth. Going into fan girl mode, Michael as Magneto was exquisite at times, especially during the scene where he was tending to a flesh wound. And unlike in First Class, I think Bryan Singer made a wise decision in wanting Michael's Magneto to sound more European to blend better with the established speech pattern of the older Magneto played by Ian McKellan. As the end of DOFP has served, future X-Men films will be quite interesting and I hope Singer is able to continue to direct them because I really like his style and vision for this franchise.

Score: 5

I have literally only 5 minutes to post the TGIF fassy image and it's from no less than the exciting X-Men: DOFP. If you haven't seen it yet, or plan on watching it for your 2nd or 3rd time, go check it out this weekend before other great movies come out and distract you. I'm very, very tired at the moment, it's hard being an 'atmosphere artist' on a "major motion picture", but it's exciting at times, and very boring at others. I worked 13 hours yesterday and I will be doing 12-14 hours again today, working past midnight. I'll have the weekend off, then maybe one more day of shooting on Monday. I wish I can say more, but in due time.

Michael Fassbender's June/July Double Details Covers!

On this bright and beautiful Sunday morning, I purchased my copy of the June/July cover issue of Michael Fassbender on Details magazine. And to my surprise, when you flip the magazine over, the Fassy Gods at Details decided to put his lovely image back there too! Fabulous! Luckily for me, all six issues of Details at the Barnes and Noble I went to, only had the Fassbender issue. So if I were a serious McAvoy fan, I would have been SOL. But the Fassy Gods hooked me up because they know I would have been peeved if the store within crawling distance to me did not have the Fassbender issue. So all is well!

Did Michael Assassinate Assassin's Creed?

$
0
0

According to the article at KDrama Stars, it seems that Michael Fassbender has distanced himself from the production of Assassin's Creed, which has a twice moved release date of August 2015. I'm of the belief that this may be ringing true, and if so, it's unfortunate, but it all comes down to business. Look at it this way - for a film that will be heavily relied upon CGI and fight scenes for which Michael has to train for, if they plan to release this in just 14 months, this film should be filming RIGHT NOW, really since like March. But it ain't. We all know how busy and in-demand Michael has become and I'm sure many other fantastic scripts have been brought to his attention, namely the follow ups for Prometheus 2 and X-Men: Apocalypse. And that's not even mentioning the one or two yet to be announced Indies this man will surely sign up for. He's currently preparing to film Trespass Against Us which will be filmed in Ireland and England this summer.

So chances look slim to none that Michael is indeed still attached to Assassin's Creed because the time frame conflicts with too many other projects that he is contractually obligated to. I'm perfectly fine with this decision as it did seem too good to be true when it was first announced. Video games turned into movies are a tricky investment. Although I'm not a gamer, I do like some of these games to movie projects, but when some fail, they fail awfully and I don't want something that will end up straight to DVD for Michael, he's above that as an Oscar nominated actor.
