Michael even looks sexy when annoyed by invasive paparazzi!

Yes! What a way to start off the first Monday of the last month of the year! Michael Fassbender was seen surfing at Bondi Beach in Australia this weekend with his co-star Alicia Vikander (who is reportedly dating fellow Swede Alexander Skaarsgard) and a male friend. I'm just posting a select few that I nabbed from my buddy Jason's site MNPP, so go over there to see the rest. It looks like Michael is enjoying himself in Australia as he heads into the final weeks of filming down under.

Perfect legs and great feet for flip flops!

The media has been like us, thirsty as hell for new information and more importantly, images of Michael Fassbender down under. More pics of him and his co-star hanging out and enjoying the sun of Bondi Beach have appeared at the Daily Mail, and the same kinds of comments are being made by the same kind of people who have been making the same comments all the long. Can't Michael Fassbender be friendly with co-stars and hang out with them without wild speculation and projections being made? I guess not. I love Michael's t-shirt, so appropriate for a guy with such a great smile!

I believe filming for The Light Between Oceans will be completed by Christmas so that everyone can enjoy their holiday break[It appears filming has wrapped up about a week ago] Back when I was a youngin in the early to mid 80s, I was fascinated by musicians from Australia (INXS, Midnight Oil, Men at Work, Olivia Newton John), and I have always wanted to go to the land down under. But it's expensive as hell and you practically need a Star Trek transporter to get there. Bondi Beach is famous the world over and since I fancy beaches, I have to go there one day. Yet another destination to add to my bucket list!

Michael and his Elton Johnish sunglasses.

Official confirmation proof of couplehood.
Michael Fassbender and his 'Light Between Oceans' co-star Alicia Vikander have traded in fun on the beach for a nice arm in arm stroll in a Sydney neighborhood. Michael seems so relaxed with Alicia that he's not even wearing any flip flops! The full details are at The Daily Mail.

Before people start getting overly excited, this is VALID news and information, not unsavory gossip about Michael Fassbender as he is clearly out in public and the photographer is just doing his/her job.

Yup, hold onto him tight girl!

It looks like Michael got an early Christmas present! Alicia is a very lucky lady!

Keep comments mature and polite. Thanks!

It was a great week to see Michael Fassbender back in the public eye after two months of being very low profile while working in New Zealand. As we learned this week, filming is complete on 'The Light Between Oceans' and Michael has been enjoying some R&R in Sydney.

This week I mailed off the annual FF Christmas greeting to London where he'll get it upon his arrival back home. Also this week it was announced that 'Slow West' will be shown at the Sundance Film Festival (HitFix). I posted at the FF Facebook page that for 2015, if any FF community readers plan to attend any film festivals next year where Michael will be in attendance, please reach out to me to let me know your plans as we would like to branch out a bit more into a journalistic FF team of event reporters. Last year Vera came thisclose to capturing exclusive close ups of Michael in Russia for an X-Men premiere, but the crowd control was out of control.

Also speaking of the FF Facebook page, Vera and Stephanie have done an outstanding job in helping me establish a career and life timeline of Michael Fassbender. Now that I'm feeling more comfortable with Facebook and how it functions, still not a big fan of it, but I find that it's easier to post very quick updates there of stuff I don't need to post here. So we're developing the Facebook page on a regular basis and when things are quiet here at the blog, please fall back on FFF - along with checking in on it daily - to see what's been posted, and most particularly, mind the timeline to see what we've added there.

Michael's female co-star for Steve Jobs film

$

Michael Fassbender got a new gurlfriend just in time to deflect serial stalkerCelebrity Fassinator Natalie Portman from latching herself onto yet another Fassbender film. Variety announced this evening that Natalie changed her brain about working on the Jobs bio-pic with Fassy, and Universal Studios has resumed their search for a new leading lady. There are so many great actresses to choose from, and I think an A-list lady (Jennifer Lawrence realm) or a solid up coming B-list actress, Rosamund Pike (my Gone Girl, girl crush) would make great choices!

So what say you? Which actress would you like to see cast as the leading lady to Michael's Steve Job role?

Michael is Mentioned on Those Leaked Sony Emails

Upon learning about the ongoing hacker leaks from Sony and reading about what those emails entailed, I initially posted some excerpts here at FF last evening. But about half an hour later, I removed it because it just felt like I was aiding in distributing private communications that were never meant for public viewing. I did isolate the bits that referenced Michael Fassbender, and it was all complimentary business discussions, but still, as intriguing as the emails were, it felt sordid in having that stuff posted here at Fassinating Fassbender.

By now, many of you have read some articles on the hacked email saga, but the Defamer has the most detailed accounts. Right now, the only thing that is confirmed about the Steve Jobs bio-pic is that Universal is the studio that owns it, and that Michael Fassbender is the current actor tagged to portray Jobs. There is still no official word from his camp to confirm that he has accepted the role. The other thing that has me scratching my head is the timeline of when this is all suppose to occur. As busy as Michael Fassbender has been in the past 18 months, he will have a very, very busy 2015 with four films being released this year: Slow West, Trespass Against Us, MacBeth, and The Light Between Oceans. On top of that, he has to start filming the next X-Men film in Canada starting in April, and then after that, start working on Prometheus 2. And don't get me started on when the hell that Malik film is coming out, and another don't get me started, is the Assassin's Creed project.

As much as we love and support Michael, and are excited to see every film he's in, I don't know how he can squeeze in the demands of the Steve Jobs film into his busy schedule, unless they start filming in January and be completed before he starts working on X-Men. One interesting thing that I did learn from reading those Sony emails was that one of the reasons why Christian Bale left the project because the Jobs material was so damn heavy, that he couldn't properly research the man to do the role the justice that we all know Bale is capable of. Also, Sony, and now Universal, have very, VERY high hopes for the Jobs film to be an Oscar contender, with a strategically placed release date in December 2015. As one of the emails proclaimed, the Jobs movie is a star making role and has Oscar written all over it. For such a mountain of burden and expectations on an actor's shoulders, is Michael Fassbender really the guy for this role, and is he 110% committed to do what he does best for this role and not be burned out by all the crazy Hollywood games that are taking place pre-production? There is so much hype on this film now that I feel like it's being set up to fail. If Michael does play Steve Jobs and if this film does not live up to the quality of the talent associated with it, it could be an embarrassing flop. One would only need to reference these hacked Sony emails as an omen to the eventual outcome of this film.

I'm going to take a step back and just watch how the rest of this Sony/Universal/Steve Jobs project unfolds. We'll know soon enough if Michael Fassbender has indeed signed a contract to be the lead actor in this career defining role!

Stay tuned...

Everyone Knows Michael Fassbender NOW!

If you do a simple Google search for Michael Fassbender today, there are at least 50 articles about him related to the hacked Sony emails of Scott Rudin, Amy Pascal, and Aaron Sorkin. None of the comments were mean about Michael, thankfully, some of them just were a bit foggy about his star power relevance in Hollywood. The quote that is being used in click bait articles (with click bait headlines) is the slight disrespect about Michael from Aaron Sorkin who just wasn't familiar with him. That's not criminal, and again, this was a personal comment in an email. But it's just so odd that such a powerful guy in Hollywood like Sorkin, whose duty is to KNOW the A-list and rising stars, to reveal his complete ignorance about Michael Fassbender. Over at Awards Watch, some people were trying to defend Sorkin and say that he was being facetious or playing around. Nope, nada, the man did not know Michael Fassbender.

Here is what Aaron Sorkin wrote as he was expressing frustration about the slow progress of the Steve Jobs film and not getting his first actor choice of Tom Cruise:

"This used to be an event. I don't know who Michael Fassbender is and the rest of the world isn't going to care,' he replied to Columbia Pictures chairman Amy Pascal and the film producer Scott Rudin. "This is insane."
But lucky or unluckily for Fassbender, Sorkin eventually conceded. "Fuck it. He's a great actor whose time has come," he later wrote.
"That's where I ended up," Pascal replied. - The Daily Mail

From reading the full context of this very discussion, it appears that everyone started to list movies Michael has been in and said how great he was, and then that's when they really wrote about Shame. Apparently Sorkin did some research, watched Shame, and then changed his mind.

That's ok Aaron, a lot of people didn't know of Michael, but because of this fiasco, they do now.

I'm not going to bash anyone for what they said, these are people in privileged positions of having the power to make or break talent and film projects and they certainly don't know all the actors out there. The question I have is what is Michael Fassbender and his managers thinking right now? Some speculate that Michael is having a fit of giggles over it all. Others, like me, think he may be turned off or embarrassed by it all. I really don't know, but we'll soon learn the outcome of this project if Michael stays on or not in the coming days or week. One thing's for sure is that the irony in all this is that the criminal act of hacking these private emails has inadvertently raised Michael Fassbender's star power to new heights. Last week at IMDB he was at #94, this week it says he's in the Top 500. I estimate that his ranking next week will be in the 30s.

With the Golden Globes announced this morning and Michael received no nomination for Frank. So sadly, that film and his performance has ran its course and has to settle for two cool BIFAs and a cozy spot on your DVD shelf. But in a way, maybe Michael doesn't need to be rubbing shoulders with all of Hollywood a month from now while these email leaks (and the threat of more to come), are still fresh and on people's minds.

Michael Still in Australia

Someone posted on Twitter, today, 15 Dec (then removed it) that she saw Michael and Daddy Fassbender at a Greek restaurant in Byron Bay. Although she admitted that stared him down throughout the meal, she had the manners to not take a photo of him eating or asking for a 'selfie'. There are still decent people in the world. I appreciate these hit and run eye-spy tweets much more than bragging selfies and intrusive secret pictures of someone stuffing food into their mouth.

In the weeks since the Sony Pictures Studios hackings, more emails have been leaked to the media and there's still no word if this all left a sour taste in Michael's mouth and turning him off from the project. The one thing that's making me think that he's still on board is that a) Danny Boyle wants him and believes in Michael, and b) Universal Studios is producing the film. Amy Pascal at Sony dropped the ball and after you read the additional emails about why they had so little faith in Michael, it's like a blessing in disguise that this worthy movie is still going to be made, and it has two of the best people involved in it, Boyle and Fassbender.

Mashable has an excellent timeline article about how the Jobs film was so poorly handled by the loons at Sony and eventually found a permanent home with Universal.

In a final word about the Sony hackings, I have no interest in delving more deeper into the leaked/stolen emails beyond the topic related to the Steve Jobs film and Michael Fassbender. As unfortunate as it is to have had these emails criminally hacked, the select documents that I have focused on have provided a wealth of information as to how the behind the scenes wheeling and dealing go down at big film studios, and how the biases and egos of studio VPs and Presidents can derail a project. In this case, the complete lack of faith and interest in a particular talent being sought to star in a film has lead to one studio losing the film, and another studio smartly picking it up. I believe that the Steve Jobs film is going to be an event and make Michael Fassbender the movie star some studio executives foolishly don't believe he currently is.

Frank won Best Irish Film from the Dublin Film Critics Circle
In other Michael Fassbender news this week, A24 Films announced that it will distribute not one, but two of Michael's films: Slow West and Trespass Against Us. I've been following A24 on twitter for quite a while because of my enjoyment of Under the Skin, a film I saw at TIFF last year, and they are an interesting company that has a lot of unique films. So I'm sure they will treat these two films well.

Be on the lookout for Michael's name to be associated with magazine cover stories in the coming days/week in regards to the fallout over the hacked Sony emails - which has snowballed into an even nastier political/cyber-terrorist mess. His name was front and center with other big names, like Angelina Jolie, and as I mentioned previously, Michael's visibility and brand stock can only go up from this fiasco. I think for the record, it's safe to say at this juncture, that Michael is still on board with Jobs even though he's been mum about the whole thing.

A Fassinating Year in Review: Michael Fassbender 2014

Happy New Year Fassinators (listen to a new 2 minute Podcast message)! It's that time for the annual review of Michael's activities of the past 12 months. In my seventh year of supporting the career of Michael Fassbender, we witnessed the ultimate high for any actor's career, and some eyebrow raising moments as well. In the end, the year 2014 was a good year for Michael, and here is a recap of the highlights covered at Fassinating Fassbender!

January

Spilling over from 2013 was the phenomenal success of Steve McQueen's '12 Years a Slave' in which Michael was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in the overwhelming majority of critics associations and award bodies, including SAG, Golden Globes, BAFTA, and the almighty one, The Oscars! Michael did win some awards like the Australian Academy Cinema Television Arts, but the really big ones alluded him in what I feel was the most stressful, polarizing, bullshit filled awards campaign season, in all four decades that I have lived on this planet! I'm just a mere fan and a cinephile, and I was stressed out over it, so one can only imagine how Michael, Steve, and everyone associated with 12YAS felt. Although Michael was nominated left and right in the Best Supporting categories, the American voting bodies felt that his nomination was his reward because they just could not go the extra step and actually vote for his performance of Edwin Epps, a vile racist slave owner. Of course not, especially when there is a Maybelline pretty doe-eyed sassy talking but sweet transsexual AIDS victim going up against him. It feels good voting for the latter.

Red faced drunk rapist slaver - 0; pretty-ladyboy AIDS activist - 80.

Meanwhile, Frank premiered at the Sundance Film Festival to a lot of rave reviews!

The Cast and Director of 12 Years a Slave

February

The Counselor (grossly misunderstood and under appreciated) is released on Blu-ray/DVD. Michael starts filming MacBeth in England, but makes time to attend awards ceremonies where he and three of his fellow nominees continue to watch the same guy win over and over again. At this point, it's clear that it's a group effort of the cast and director to support the film itself on its way to historic Oscar gold.

March

Oscar Best Picture celebration on stage!
'Twelve Years a Slave' won 3 Oscars including the top prize, Best Picture! Michael took his mother to the Oscars with him. However crazy and stressful the entire award season/Oscar season was, Michael did not break a sweat in public, he was professional, civilized, and a good sport throughout the process. We're not only proud of his accomplishments in the film which garnered him so much attention, but he also clearly demonstrated why we adore him so much in the first place. He's a perfect gentleman. The writing was on the wall for many months that he would not go home with his Oscar, but one day he will!

Academy Award Nominated Actor, Michael Fassbender and his mum Adele.
As Michael resumed filming for MacBeth, Fassinating Fassbender was hard at work for the 2nd annual FF fundraiser in support of Michael's birthday. Throughout the month of March, donations slowly came in and eventually we surpassed our goal, mostly due to final day donations with a few key large donations to total £1305 (which is approximately $2,166)! It's so much harder to raise a relevant amount in GBP because of the foreign currency exchange rate that trivializes hard earned donated US dollars. So it's all the more impressive that FF readers came together to donate whatever they could to this cause to support Michael's birthday and The Bike Experience! Michael's reps at Troika were impressed with the monies raised and informed Michael.

April

Best Supporting Actor win at IFTA
Michael won Best Supporting Actor for 12YAS at the Irish Film and Television Awards. And the next day, Michael was spotted in Dublin with his parents eating breakfast at the Canal Bank Cafe.

After six years, Fassinating Fassbender got a significant website makeover, thanks to the wonderful work of FF graphic artist, Hupsakeek! And with April being a month of renewal and change, FF finally decided to take the plunge into Facebook with Fassinating Fassbender Facebook. It was a necessary step to take to reach out to Fassinators who prefer a Facebook interface with FF and it has been coming along very nicely with the admin help of Vera and Stephanie.

'Frank' premiered in Dublin to much fan fare, and he appeared on the Late, Late Show before continuing his promotion for Frank in London.

May

The coolest threesome on the planet!
The next film that demanded Michael's promotional duties was 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'. Due to director Bryan Singer's legal saga, all cast members of this film was everywhere promoting this film. The media was reporting a doomsday prediction that Singer's legal woes would hurt 'Days', but 20th Century Fox was not going to let this mess up the box office for the film. Michael was everywhere, he even went to Moscow! One promotional highlight was when Michael, James MacAvoy, and Hugh Jackman all appeared on the Graham Norton Show! Along with the big London premiere, Michael attended the New York City premiere, where he was also a guest on the Tonight Show. Basically, May was Michael Month!
Eleven Fassinators received their own exclusive Frank mask!
Meanwhile, as the UK promotion of Frank winds down, the printing company of the Frank masks reached out to Fassinating Fassbender to see if I wanted the last dozen of masks to share with Fassinators. This was such a cool treat and it was further proof that although we're not the biggest Michael Fassbender fan website, but we're the coolest to be noticed in this way. Later this month, I announced that during a long planned vacation to LA, I was going to attend the LA Film Festival premiere of Frank. Unbelievable perfect timing! I'm so lucky to have Fassinator friends in key cities! My lovely friend Miapatagonia helped make this happen.

June & July

Michael was Details magazine's double issue cover boy for June/July, a nice accomplishment! I wrote a review of Frank and in this month, it was announced that Michael would star in 'The Light Between Oceans'. The fandom starts to experience an upheaval by non-fans with ill intentions and I felt the need to write an essay to help clarify my stance on a persistent and annoying old rumor. Meanwhile, AMPAS extends an invitation to Michael Fassbender to join the organization. It is unknown if he accepted the invite to join.

The cool kids at Glastonbury

The light news that we do hear about Michael mid-summer was a few reports about him having fun at the Glastonbury Music Festival. Being a hard working actor has a lot of perks. It could be quite tiresome being on the film set for 14 hours a day, so when he's free to party, it's good to know that Michael can attend big events and only be seen when he wants to. Later in July, it's tweeted that Michael was spotted surfing in Biarritz.

August

Frank is to be released in the US on a limited roll-out starting August 16th. The summer dry spell for Fassy has broken with him going all out for a NYC promotion for Frank! Michael and his Frank co-stars performed as Soronprfs on the Colbert Report!

Michael as Frank entertaining a New York City audience.

September & October

No Fassy at TIFF this year, but he has been spotted in New Zealand getting prepared to film Oceans for the remainder of the year. In the second half of 2014, Michael has been promoting films, and enjoying private time, so information about him has been selective and sparse. Fassinating Fassbender relies on the TGiFassy theme for weekly updates. This year was a bit front loaded with big time coverage and news/information about him for the first 6 months, and then the latter part had very light news. During times like these, it's all the more important for readers to monitor updates at @FassFass twitter, Pinterest, and the Facebook page.

November

It is announced that Michael Fassbender replaced Christian Bale for the role in Sony's Steve Jobs biopic. And Michael received a Best Supporting Actor  nomination from BIFA for Frank. For the next installment of X-Men: Apocalypse, Fox is going to milk the star power of Jennifer Lawrence and Michael Fassbender by creating a love story arc between Mystique and Magneto. This plot twist doesn't inspire much warmth from fans and X-Men fanatics. But with Singer still in the Director's chair, and with Michael and Jennifer bringing such charisma to their characters, I'm sure they'll make the most of this and it'll be interesting to watch at the least. Fassinating Fassbender mails off its annual Christmas greeting to Michael.

December
Michael and Alicia in Sydney.
This month starts off with much, much needed pictures and updates on Michael Fassbender post-production of 'Oceans' in Australia. He is enjoying surfing time at Bondi beach and we are inundated with awesome images of our favorite guy on holiday with friends. Then the next day, we see images of Michael and his Oceans co-star, Alicia, arm in arm while walking about in Sydney. Meanwhile, it has been announced that 'Slow West' will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January. And a two month long project at FF@Facebook  has been completed with an impressive life and career timeline for Michael at the page. Our intentions was to fully utilize a key tool at Facebook to help make FF@Facebook a great and accurate source of information related to the successes of Michael's career maintained by fans of his.
Michael Fassbender to star in bio-pic on Steve Jobs.
But the big and crazy news of December was related to the Steve Jobs biopic. With still no 'official' word that Michael signed on the dotted line to star in this movie, the film got a new studio, Universal, after Sony messed up big time in not recognizing the brilliance of Michael Fassbender. So what his name isn't as big as Tom Cruise's... yet, but from the disturbing cyber attack hacking of Sony Pictures, we learned from the release of private email conversations that the addition of Michael Fassbender as Steve Jobs, under the demand of newly appointed director, Danny Boyle, was not warmly embraced by Sony co-chairwoman, Amy Pascal and producer Scott Rudin. They didn't hate on him, but they completely failed to have immediate knowledge or appreciation of his potential in this role. And now with Kate Winslet announced as being a part of this film, this film already have the cred and hallmarks of a must-see for late 2015. Filming is to take place in San Francisco (extras casting calls are occurring there) in January and be completed in time for Michael to head to Canada in April for the next X-Men film. The screenwriter of the film, Aaron Sorkin, who initially dissed Michael as a nobody, is now on board with Michael and earlier made this comment about the project:
Whoever ends up playing Jobs will inherit what Sorkin has called "an extremely difficult role," with "more words to say in this movie than most people have in three movies combined."

It looks to me that they did indeed hire the right actor for this role.

These are the main highlights of another Fassinating year in the career of Michael Fassbender! I have high hopes for 2015 and I know that Michael is going to reach even higher heights in his career this year. I have often said this before during times when the media was heavily focused on Michael, but it really is a pleasure to be the fan of such a good human being who is not only very talented, but professional, sweet, kind, and grateful for all his fans, and what we do for him here at Fassinating Fassbender.

Happy New Year to everyone and Michael, and may this year be even more exciting!

According to tweets from the past 36 hours, a few lucky people spotted Michael Fassbender in London. So his four month business and pleasure stay down under is over. I'm sure Michael enjoyed the past month in Australia, especially when his parents came down to spend the holidays with him. Now, it's back to work, work, work, and this year is building up to be possibly the biggest year in Michael's career.

He will start filming the Steve Jobs movie in a matter of weeks, and then immediately after that, he'll start on X-Men. In between the filming of these two movies, Michael may have to do some promotion for Slow West and Trespass Against Us, and I think MacBeth is being primed to bow at Cannes in May. If you remember, a sneak peek of MacBeth was shown at Cannes last year. With the 'Steve Jobs' movie being filmed so early in 2015 (similar to the filming and completion schedule of 12 Years a Slave), 'Jobs' will likely be completed to be released in December 2015. There's no way this film is going to wait to be released in 2016, not with it having such strong Oscar cred associated with it. And speaking of 2016, we finally received legitimate updates this week on 'Assassin's Creed'. It will be released on December 21, 2016. So with that, there's no way two Fassy films are going to come out in the same month that year. Michael should start filming 'Creed' very early in 2016.

As Michael prepares to travel to the US soon to film the Jobs movie, I look forward to seeing pics of him with dark and feathered 80s and 90s hair styles. This film is going to be an event!

With the Oscar season in full swing, I am so glad that Michael Fassbender is not involved in this year's bizarre game of who was/who wasn't nominated. While Michael is safely tucked away somewhere around San Francisco to prepare for the Steve Jobs movie, a lot of people were left scratching their heads on Thursday after the nomination announcements; some screamed, some swore.  I was alarmed by some suspicious snubs. In the 25 years I've been paying close attention to the Oscars, I have come to surmise that there are three levels of snub reactions: Surprised (Oh dear.), Alarmed (What the heck?), Fucking pissed (The Fuck!?!, Sons of bitches!, etc.). My reaction was the latter in 2012 (see 1.24.12 post). But that's all in the past. I write this post in a rather Zen-ish mood before my evening meditation and cup of mint green tea. But mind, with MacBeth and the Steve Jobs bio-pic in the pipeline, I could be trippin' again this time next year. I'm just sayin'.

I noticed this evening that Netflix has just added Frank to its streaming menu. But to my surprise, under the brief description of the film, they list Domhnall Gleeson and Maggie Gyllenhaal as the film's stars. Um, excuse meeeeeeee, but, the lure for 98% of the people who watched Frank was because of Michael Fassbender, HE was the draw. I'm sure the other 2% were like, 'Gee, dudes, did you hear that Domhnall Gleeson and Jake Gyllenhaal's sister have a new movie out about a shy musician genius dude wearing a mask? Let's totally go see this new movie right now'! Netflix really need to get with the Fassy program.

While we await the first images of Michael Fassbender in California for his role of Steve Jobs, if you happen to live near Berkeley, you might have a Fassy encounter on Friday. According to this article, Michael and his co-stars will film some scenes between 6pm and 6am near the La Mediterranee restaurant at 2936 College Ave. As per my recent experience as an extra in filming the Batman vs Superman film last summer, these are tight sets when on location, and security is everywhere. But, it'll still be interesting to at least be nearby... but don't waste your time as the minutes approach midnight - don't want to be too stalkery.

Michael will attend the Sundance Film Festival (Jan 22 - Feb 1) in Utah, to promote Slow West. The film will screen five times during the festival. Michael is most likely to be in attendance this weekend for its screen debut.

Slow West did Well at Sundance

As you know by now, Michael Fassbender was knee deep in filming the Steve Jobs movie in the San Francisco area, specifically, Berkeley and Cupertino. As per media anticipation, I thought Michael was going to be able to slip away to Utah for at least a day for the premiere of Slow West at Sundance this weekend, but he was not able to attend. The overall reception to the Western, which was the first film produced by Michael and Conor's DMC Films, was very good! Many reviews state that Slow West is a nice twist of a Western, the body count is high, and there are flamboyant characters, everyone uses their natural accents, and Michael is great, but if anything, his character is still mysterious due to the lack of depth about him.

Back in December it was announced that A24 Films will distribute Slow West in the States, so I'm hopeful that it will get a spring or summer release. It's an independent film, so it may not get released at 2,000+ theaters, but I'm confident it'll have a wider release than his previous film that debut last year at Sundance, Frank.

Michael was spotted along with Kate Winslet at the Flint Center at De Anza College on Monday. A few very blurry and dark images have been taken of Michael on set wearing an 80's style wig and a black turtleneck. The 80s were my personal favorite coming of age decade and I would love to have been an extra in this film.

The Facebook page of FF has been very active with posting reviews of Slow West, so mind it for quick updates and information.

Male mannequins should be modeled after Michael's face - all over the planet!
It has to be so flattering to know that your name is on everyone's short list to star in their films, so it comes as no surprise that Michael Fassbender's name is rumored to be in the new Star Wars. I'm not much of a fan of the Star Wars universe so I'm not too enthused, therefore, you should take this rumor with a grain of salt. People need to realize that Michael is already tied up with X-Men and Prometheus, two sci-fi franchises, and he's in pre-production mode for the Assassin's Creed gig. There's only so many projects he can work on. So that's all I'll say about that.

However, if Mr. Energizer bunny is itching to do anything else beyond all these projects he has lined up for 2015-2016, it's my hope that he eventually has time to do some theater work in the near future. Maybe Michael will be inspired by the success his friend Bradley Cooper is having with The Elephant Man now on Broadway. I'm going to see Cooper when he takes the play to London in May - I'm so excited! I remember talking to Michael about how cool it would be for him to do some theater again, and these days, those tickets will sell out like crazy.

If Michael were to do a play, what would you like to see him in? Something rarely seen, never before seen on stage, or a well established play? I'd like to see him in a play that was created just for him, no singing, just a straight up angst riddled drama. Until then, I'll just continue enjoying his movies on the big screen!

Here are some great images of Michael Fassbender and Seth Rogen on the set of Steve Jobs in Cupertino today. I love Michael's style. I expected his hair to be darker, but, light auburn is fine with me. Pics from tumblr land.

There was lots of news and updates about Michael Fassbender this week. From his Slow West winning an award at the Sundance Film Festival, to the first excellent images of Michael with flat-ironed hair and a bow tie on set, to news about the release date for Steve Jobs (Oct. 9, 2015). Universal Studios sure isn't playing around with the Jobs film, they have straight up released the premiere date at a precise time after the key Fall season North American film festivals conclude. October is a great month to release films primed for Oscar consideration because they fall in the midst of these high profile festivals: Telluride (Sept, 4-7), Toronto (Sept, 10-20), and New York (Sept 25 - Oct 11). And it looks like the festivals have tweaked their schedules this year to be more courteous to each other and have no crazy overlapping to allow attendees to enjoy each festival. Michael could attend all three to support both MacBeth and Steve Jobs. We'll practically be tested to be sick of him - but that will impossible if not such an offensive thought!

If ever there was a year that Michael was going to be huge, is this year! With Slow West coming out of the gate strong from Sundance, the speculation that MacBeth will screen at Cannes, Trespass Against Us later this year, and the Steve Jobs film, Michael is bound to be on the hit list for loads of awards and nominations next awards season, and we'll be here supporting him all through the craziness and excitement!
