ETA: Thank you Anonymous for your donation today, ever bit helps on this final day!
Thank you Hupsakeek for your second donation in this fundraiser. You pushed us past the crucial 50% raised milestone. Thank you!
Thank you Dianne S for your second donation pushing us just £5 away from the £600 mark!
Thank you Annagathe for your donation which helped us surpass the £600 mark as we wind down.
Thank you Blanca for your amazing end of the fundraiser donation of 300€!!!! And you did this last year too! Bless you!

Thanks to all the donors, we could not raise this money without your help! xoxo

Today is the last day of the Michael Fassbender birthday fundraiser in support of The Bike Experience! You have the entire day to make your final decision to donate and to have your name added to the fundraiser birthday greeting message to Michael. You'll also qualify for the grand prize raffle giveaway!

As of this moment, we have raised 47% of our goal, and I graciously thank everyone who has donated this year. A lot of people who participated in the first two years have not donated yet this year, so there's still hope for a last minute rally. In the 34 days of this fundraiser, I have tried my best to encourage anyone and everyone to donate whatever they could, and I think I have done the best I could. The Bike Experience is going to get some money that they would otherwise not receive had this fundraiser not been established. So for that, I'm happy that a select few in this gigantic fanbase believe in this fundraiser and the cause we support.

The winner of the grand prize will be announced this Thursday on Michael's birthday!

Please DONATE for the last day!

Thank you for donating in honor of Michael's birthday!

I woke up this morning and noticed that two more donations came through just after midnight. Thank you Danielle E for your kind donation, and Martha made her second donation, bringing our total up to£903! That is excellent my friends! Fundraising can be very difficult and challenging, and when there are other fundraisers begging for your attention and money, you are forced to decide which fundraiser deserves your money. So for those who felt that The Bike Experience, which is sponsored by Fassinating Fassbender, deserved your support, I humbly bow to you all and graciously thank you for your donations this year! Donors, look out for a special email later today.

The birthday announcement greeting has been sent off and Michael will receive it. All who donated have their name on the birthday greeting!

Tomorrow, on Michael's birthday, I will announce the winner of the raffle prize, so come back here and check it out!

Lastly, I look forward to helping TBE again next year, my support for them is even stronger now because of the personal messages I have received from donors. This is a unique charity and they feel especially compelled to help TBE because it is a charity that celebrates life and living for the moment!

Here is a screengrab of a thank you message from Talan and The Bike Experience!

Happy 38th Birthday Michael Fassbender!

Today is Michael Fassbender's 38th birthday! After a successful FF fundraiser in his honor, now it's time to celebrate him. I don't know about you, but Michael Fassbender is the only actor I pay very close attention to. We're lucky to be enamored by an actor as versatile, talented, and charismatic as Michael. I'm naturally motivated to put all my effort into Fassinating Fassbender because I really adore the man. It's going to be an exceptional year for Michael because he will have at least three films coming out this year alone. Right now, Michael is still very busy in San Francisco working on the Steve Jobs film, and he'll be there for the next two weeks. So it's my hopes that he is able to take a break and enjoy this special day!

Happy Birthday Michael! Read the Birthday Fundraiser certificate sent to him (click here).

Now, for the winner of the 3rd Annual Birthday Fundraiser raffle...
Once more, thank you to all the donors who raised £903 for The Bike Experience.

The gift bag winner of some cool items from the Real Irish store is -

Dianne daSilva!!! a sweet Fassinator I've had the pleasure of meeting at TIFF 2013!

And I picked up another cool Irish trinket to giveaway to the St. Patrick's Day donor, but since there were no donations made that day, I decided to give it to the second runner up. And that person is,

Gabriel Leal, our resident gorgeous male Fassinator!

The fundraiser and Fassinating Fassbender would not be what it is without supporters like you and everyone else who donated!

Thank you!

I'm glad Michael was able to get away for his birthday to spend time with Alicia Vikander and some friends! These pictures were posted up in the past few hours! More pics about Michael in NYC can be found at The Daily Mail.

April 9th marks the one year anniversary of creating the Fassinating Fassbender Facebook page. And I have to admit that it has proven to be a good investment. I still loathe Facebook regarding personal usage because it's ground zero for bragging rights of people I don't really care about who have kids I don't care about. But for a fan community, it has allowed me to reach out to a fan base that doesn't really do the blogging thing. I changed the picture last night and I wanted to keep the TIFF theme going. Why? Well it's because TIFF is the film festival that motivated me to create FF back in 2008, and it's the place where I have been able to see/meet Michael a few times. And I also think the pictures of Michael from TIFF 2013 were particularly gorgeous.

In the past couple of days, I have been reading comments all over the Internet about the pictures of Michael and Alicia in New York over the weekend. Some of the opinions are from people who obviously are not fans of Michael Fassbender. What person sits at their computer and criticize him for the things he does with his personal life? He is a 38 year old grown ass man, and a celebrity, mind. You will never date him, let alone marry him, so why all the hand wringing and demanding of him to stop seeing someone or psychoanalyzing why he's with her and for what reason? What difference does it make?

My only advice: Buckle up, it's going to be a long ride, so get off now if you don't like what you see. Focus on other celebrities whom you can project your fantasies upon, and who will do exactly what you want them to do in order for you to continue to like them, and be happy with your life.

The filming of the Steve Jobs movie ends this week with extras and Fassy body doubles finishing up he small details. I think San Francisco is in Michael's rear view mirror. He's probably on a short break before he goes to Montreal, Canada to work on X-Men: Apocalypse. Perhaps he flew back home to London for some much needed English R&R. Earlier this week he gave the media and some fans what they needed, so his job is done, for now.

I usually post FF blog articles to our Facebook page, now I'm doing the reverse.

Back in early March 2007, I went to the theater, IMAX to be specific, to watch a film titled, 300. I went there because...

Michael will be at Cannes for MacBeth!

While I still have to settle for my annual trek to Toronto for TIFF, as Cannes is not only cost prohibitive, but for connected industry folk, it's awesome to see that MacBeth will be in Competition at this year's Cannes. As you may recall, last year at Cannes, there was a preview of MacBeth, so that was telling to me that it would show up in competition this year!

Michael is going to be doing a lot of posing on the red carpet next month at the 68th Cannes in support of MacBeth. The festival runs from 13-24 May. I'm hoping to God that MacBeth screens before 21 May because that's when I take off for my Ireland/England trip! But with time permitting, I may be able to update the blog when I get back to my hotel for the evening. We'll see.

Michael Fassbender has now gone into undercover hiding between the filming of two different movies (Steve Jobs and X-Men: Apocalypse), and I don't blame him. We'll see enough of him from Canadian reports of the X-Men filming, as well as next month's Cannes appearance in support of Macbeth.  According to some comments I have read on the Internet in the past week, some people are very upset and being judgmental about Michael not attending the Tribeca Film Festival - like, how dare he, dammit! Some of these very people need to relax and understand that schedule conflicts prevent Michael from attending some special event screenings of a film he's starring in. Just because you want him at a certain place and a certain time, with a certain person, doing what you think he should be doing, doesn't mean that he's obligated to do so, or being unprofessional. Since some of you like tea so much, drink a hot cup of chamomile and calm the hell down! As long as the other principle actors like Kodi Smit-McPhee and the brilliant Ben Mendelsohn were in attendance there, as well as at Sundance, the film is being properly supported by some of its stars. Slow West will debut in the US on May 15th, and I can't wait to see it because it has been receiving great reviews, like a 91% at Rotten Tomatoes!

Michael Fassbender was in New York City yesterday doing a few interviews to promote Slow West! He looked great, but seemed a little tired in the MTV interview. In the past couple of weeks, he's surely flew tens of thousands of miles back and forth from North America, to Europe, doing pre-production work for Assassin's Creed. All that flying, regardless if it's in Business or First Class, can tire someone out with serious jet lag. It never ceases to amaze me how some people don't take that into account and still want to criticize Michael. Criticize him when they don't see him, and criticize him when they do see him. Sigh.

In the MTV interview, Michael mentioned how Kodi Smit-McPhee introduced him to meditation. Michael said he's never done it before and tried it for just over a minute. Michael, take it from me, I meditate daily as a practicing Buddhist and it's an achievement to meditate for even just one minute a day. Just sit somewhere quiet, close your eyes, concentrate on your breathing. That's all you gotta do brother. So good for you! The shortest time I meditate is 5 minutes, the longest has been 3 hours (it was a special Buddhist ceremony, but in private time, I avg. 30 minutes).

Montreal Michael

Just weeks after finishing up a film, Michael is now in Montreal, Canada for the next few months to film X-Men: Apocalypse. There were rumors, or hopes that Michael would attend that stupid Met Gala in NYC last night. But of course he didn't attend because such a PR show off sycophantic 1%er event is not his style. Michael is looking lively and ginger spicy in this photo. Which brings me to ask, will he have a short beard for 80s Magneto? Stay tuned...

The 68th Cannes Film Festival screening schedule was released on Thursday, and Macbeth will screen on the last day of the festival, May 23, the award ceremony is on the 24th. This sucks for me because I'll be on my holiday visit to Ireland! But Vera and Stephanie will keep you all updated on Cannes at FFF. There is nothing good or bad about the film's screening placement, it's in competition, and that's all that matters. Go to the Cannes website for additional information.

Earlier this week I announced on Twitter that the local film festival, Cinetopia, where I volunteer as a Venue Manager, will screen Slow West on June 13th. I'm so excited about a Michael Fassbender film being screened at this up and coming Mid-west film festival that screens 70 films in ten different venues in Ann Arbor and Detroit. I'm going to save my Slow West viewing virginity for the film festival. I get a free pass for the entire festival for doing manager level volunteer shifts, so I'm going to enjoy this year's festival for sure!

But it still works.
Today is opening day for Slow West in theaters! I'm sure you will enjoy it, as I know I will too when I see it. Sadly, I'm going to purposefully delay seeing it for a few weeks because it's going to be at the film festival that I will be working at in just a few more weeks, so I will watch it then. However, I encourage all of you to go see it, because this is the first Fassbender film since last summer's Frank and X-Men:DOFP! Speaking of X-Men, Michael is filming in Montreal at the moment, however, he will be taking off for France any day now to attend the Cannes premiere of Macbeth late next week. It'll be the final film to screen on May 23rd.

Did you read that "interview" of Michael with Variety from Wednesday? I've already expressed by disgust with the lack of professionalism, and lack of active listening skills the "reporter" demonstrated during his "interview" with Michael, so I won't go there again. However, Michael's responses were smart and witty, and very patient with a nitwit. We learned that Michael can't be arsed with going to the gym, he's just naturally lean and sexy; still can't stand LA; he's willing to play Magneto 100 more times;  he relies on the internet for information about him (FF is the best source dude!); and he wants to direct one day but helping produce films is keeping him busy. But the true gem of this article is that Michael is like me, he likes to hold onto shit until it ain't working no more. He's a clinger!

Apparently Michael has a busted iPhone 4. He has mentioned this in a previous interview from earlier this month, and it's no big deal, loads of people have iPhone 4. But because Michael is a wealthy A-list celebrity guy, some segments of society think he should have iPhone 6, and gold, to boot. But Michael isn't like that, he likes his 4 series, and better yet, it WORKS and it's still functional for him. I love this so much and it makes me want to hug him because I can relate. I don't even have an iPhone, I have a Samsung android, and it's the first smartphone I got just last July. Yes, I finally got a smartphone in 2014, because my regular people non-smartphone, WORKED for me.

I'm also one of the last human beings who doesn't have a plasma TV yet - even my 3 year old baby nephew has a 45 inch plasma in his room. My fat, heavy 36 inch 1999 Panasonic TV still, WORKS and I like it. I have all kinds of old fashioned shit still in my possession, but the moral of this ranting confession is that, I understand why Michael is clinging onto his cracked, raggedy, old iPhone 4 - it's his and it still works. You don't owe anyone any explanations Michael, you're a clinger like me, you keep your phone and tell people to fuck off! :)

You don’t have the iPhone 6?
No, the 4 is my favorite design. I also use something until it’s no longer useable.
Your phone looks broken.
But it still works. The cover actually broke off my broken phone.

Au revoir!
The day has finally arrived, I'll be leaving later this afternoon to begin my holiday travel to Ireland and then spend some time in England. Now that I have an iPad, I can keep an eye on Fassy updates, however, I won't have much time to spend in updating the blog. Therefore, through June 1st, please watch for Fassinating Fassbender updates at our Facebook community -

https://www.facebook.com/fassinatingfassbender

Vera and Stephanie will keep posting the most current articles and images on Michael Fassbender while he is at Cannes to promote Macbeth. So far, there appears to be a load of buzz on several films to capture the Palme D'or award (Carol, Youth, Mountains May Depart). Macbeth will screen on the final day, this Saturday, 23 May, so have your eyes glued at FFF because Vera and Stephanie will be updating as the Michael news and images from Cannes come in.

For those interested in my journeys to Killarney and London, you're welcomed to check out my Instagram account for fun images documenting these two fantastic cities. I'll be tweeting as usual, just not as frequently. TGiFassy will be suspended for the next two Fridays!

Good luck to Michael at Cannes!

Michael and Marion at Cannes.
I had a great holiday in Ireland and England this past week! If you would like to see pictures and learn more details about my adventures, please look out for my vacation report at the ToZ blog. But while I was away, Michael made his appearance at his third Cannes and even though Macbeth didn't take home any honors, I believe that the roaring standing ovation the film and its performers received, was the film's reward.  I especially adore Marion Cotillard and I just love the chemistry between her and Michael. I picked up insight from award prognosticators at Awards Daily and Awards Watch weeks ago, that it was going to be a long shot for Macbeth to win anything at Cannes. Why? Well, Macbeth has been filmed countless times and has had thousands of interpretations on the stage. For such an established and familiar story, it was not a plot of unique originality to win an award at Cannes.

What does this have for its Oscar chances? The Oscars are very different than Cannes, so I think that if Macbeth receives great critical reception this fall, and does decent at the box office, it could garner a few award nominations. But the main award we're concerned about is a best actor nomination for Michael for Macbeth. However, Macbeth is just one of three films that Michael has a chance of being nominated for this year, the others are - The Light Between Oceans, and of course, Steve Jobs. If you're a betting person, start placing your bets on the Steve Jobs film, if Michael delivers like we know he can. Even though I was on vacation, I still got my Fassy fix by skimming the pitiful Google alerts, and reading tweets. I was fascinated by the obsessive monitoring of Michael's private time behavior at Cannes, as per the comments at one message board forum that is more tolerable than others, that was not related to the real reason why he was at Cannes: to promote a film. People seem to forget that Michael Fassbender is an actor, not just a regular 38 year-old man doing what normal 38 year-old men do in their private lives, and especially at a cool place like the Cannes film festival where he doesn't have a pay a penny out of his pocket to have fun there.

If you're a real FAN of Michael Fassbender, ignore the gossip and stop criticizing, speculating and passing judgment, just focus on the fantastic work that Michael always puts his heart into in order to entertain us. The other stuff is industry static, and that's all I'll ever say. I'm here for Michael Fassbender and his work and that's what real fans should be interested in too.
